One of my goals for September is to be more intentional about having self-care nights. I am usually very good about sticking to a productive morning routine, but slowing down at the end of the day does not always come as naturally. It is easy to finish work, scroll on my phone, and suddenly realize it is time for bed.
This month, I want to make ordinary evenings at home feel a little more special. That does not mean planning an elaborate routine or spending hours doing every possible self-care step. For me, it is simply about choosing a few things that encourage me to pause, get comfortable, and enjoy the evening instead of rushing through it.
Starting the Evening with Nello Supercalm
I began my fall self-care night by making a glass of Nello Supercalm. Preparing a drink gives me a natural transition between the busy part of my day and the slower part of my evening. I mixed it before starting the rest of my routine and sipped it while I moved through my skincare steps.
I like including Supercalm in a routine that already feels realistic for me. It becomes one part of the evening alongside skincare, comfortable pajamas, and reading — not another complicated task to add to my list.
Adding a Little Extra Care
Next, I put on a pair of foot masks. They are such an easy addition because I can leave them on while doing everything else. It is a small step, but it immediately makes the night feel more like a dedicated self-care evening.
While the foot masks were on, I dermaplaned my face and followed with a face mask. Dermaplaning is not something I do every night, so including it made this routine feel a little more special than my usual evening skincare. Afterward, the face mask gave me a reason to sit still for a few minutes instead of moving directly to the next thing on my to-do list.
If I do not have time for every step, I can easily simplify this part of the routine. A face mask on its own — or even just taking a little more time with my regular skincare — still helps create that same slower feeling.
Ending the Night with a Book
Once I finished my skincare, I changed into my comfiest pajamas and grabbed my book. Reading is another September goal of mine, so pairing it with my self-care night helps me make progress on two intentions at once. It also gives me something relaxing to do that does not involve staring at another screen.
There was nothing especially complicated about this evening. I made my Nello Supercalm, wore foot masks, took a little extra time with my skincare, changed into pajamas, and read. That simplicity is exactly why I can see myself repeating it throughout the season.
My Fall Self-Care Night Routine
If you want to recreate a similar evening, here is the routine:
- Make a relaxing evening drink.
- Put on foot masks while completing the rest of the routine.
- Dermaplane and apply a face mask, if those steps work for your skin.
- Change into comfortable pajamas.
- Put your phone away and read for a while before bed.
Self-care does not need to be elaborate to feel meaningful. Sometimes, it is simply deciding that an ordinary night at home deserves a little care and attention too. You can find everything I used linked here.
