October brought me a mix of heartwarming romances, spine-chilling thrillers, and a dash of mystery. Here’s a rundown of the books I devoured this month, along with my thoughts and ratings!
1. Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez – 9/10
Yours Truly follows the story of two doctors who start as workplace rivals but find themselves drawn to each other’s kindness and resilience. A delightful slow-burn romance full of charm, humor, and real-life struggles, Abby Jimenez creates a story that is both heartfelt and healing, making it an incredibly satisfying read.
2. The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez – 10/10
The Friend Zone dives deep into love and friendship, exploring the challenges of infertility through the lens of a relatable heroine. The chemistry and banter between the characters is off the charts, making this a touching and unforgettable love story. Highly recommended!
3. The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez – 10/10
A beautiful story of love after loss, The Happy Ever After Playlist introduces us to Sloan, who is healing from a tragic past, and Jason, a rising musician. Their chemistry lights up the page, and the story takes you on an emotional journey that’s both exhilarating and moving. Another perfect 10 from Jimenez!
4. Life’s Too Short by Abby Jimenez – 9/10
In this deeply emotional yet funny read, Jimenez explores themes of love, health struggles, and living life to the fullest. With complex characters who embrace life despite its obstacles, Life’s Too Short balances heartbreak and humor, making it hard to put down.
5. The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden – 9/10
The Boyfriend is a page-turning thriller with just the right amount of suspense and twists. As the protagonist dives deeper into her partner’s secrets, the tension builds, keeping you hooked until the very last page. A highly entertaining read for thriller fans!
6. Worst Wingman Ever by Abby Jimenez – 8/10
A more lighthearted romance, Worst Wingman Ever introduces us to a protagonist who might just be the worst at helping her friends find love—but her own love life takes a turn for the better. It’s funny, relatable, and sweet, though not as deeply resonant as Jimenez’s other works. Still, it’s a fun, easy read!
7. Dead Med by Freida McFadden – 9/10
Dead Med throws readers into a gripping medical thriller filled with suspense and high-stakes situations. McFadden’s knack for pacing shines, making it a fast, intense read that leaves you holding your breath from beginning to end.
8. Ward D by Freida McFadden – 7/10
This thriller is set in a psychiatric hospital and follows a doctor working on her night shift who finds herself caught in a series of strange and terrifying events. While it’s an intriguing premise, it lacked the same gripping intensity of some of McFadden’s other works. Still, it’s worth a read for thriller fans looking for something different!
9. The Gift by Freida McFadden – 4/10
Unfortunately, The Gift didn’t quite hit the mark for me. Though it had potential, the story fell a bit flat with its characters and pacing. While there were some suspenseful moments, they weren’t enough to make this a standout in McFadden’s lineup.
10. The Mistletoe Mystery by Nita Prose – 5/10
This cozy mystery set during the holidays offers a lighthearted whodunit, but it didn’t quite capture my attention as much as I hoped. The characters and plot were charming, but the story didn’t fully draw me in. It’s a cute, festive read if you’re looking for something light for the holidays!
11. Do You Remember? by Freida McFadden – 8/10
In classic McFadden style, this thriller is packed with twists and turns that keep you guessing. As the protagonist uncovers details of a forgotten past, suspense mounts, making it hard to put down. The pacing is spot-on, making this an exciting read for anyone craving a thriller with psychological depth.
This October’s lineup truly had something for every mood: love stories that tugged at my heartstrings, mysteries perfect for chilly nights, and thrillers that kept me guessing. Each book had its unique flavor, making this month one of my favorites for reading! All the books are linked here and be sure to check back next month!
