A Fun Day at Mirada Lagoon: One of the Best Things to Do in Florida

If you’re looking for fun things to do in Florida beyond the traditional theme parks, MetroLagoons deserves a spot on your itinerary. With four locations across the state, MetroLagoons combines the relaxing atmosphere of a tropical beach vacation with water activities, food, drinks, and entertainment—all in one place.

We visited Mirada Lagoon and spent the day enjoying the clear blue water, sandy beaches, and resort-style atmosphere. Mirada Lagoon is known as the nation’s largest human-made lagoon, making it such a unique destination to experience while visiting the Tampa area.

Our Day at Mirada Lagoon

For our visit, we rented a private cabana, which gave us a comfortable home base for the day. It was the perfect place to relax in the shade, enjoy our food and drinks, and take breaks between swimming.

We spent most of the day in the water, ordering food and refreshing drinks and soaking up the Florida sunshine. The lagoon’s bright blue water and sandy shoreline made it feel like we had escaped to a tropical resort without ever leaving Florida.

Things to Do at MetroLagoons

MetroLagoons offers a mix of relaxing and adventurous activities, so there is something for nearly every type of visitor. Depending on the location and availability, you can enjoy:

  • Clear blue lagoon water and sandy beaches
  • Private cabana rentals
  • Water slides and inflatable obstacle courses
  • Kayaking and paddleboarding
  • Bumper boats
  • Swim-up bars
  • Food and refreshing drinks
  • Live events and entertainment

You can spend the day lounging beside the water or fill your visit with activities. It’s a great option for families, groups of friends, couples, or anyone looking for a different way to enjoy Florida’s warm weather.

Is a Cabana at Mirada Lagoon Worth It?

If you’re planning to spend the entire day at the lagoon, I would recommend considering a private cabana. Having a shaded space to relax, store your belongings, and enjoy your food and drinks made our visit feel even more comfortable.

A cabana can be especially helpful if you’re visiting with a group or want to alternate between swimming and relaxing throughout the day.

Add MetroLagoons to Your Florida Itinerary

Whether you’re visiting the Tampa area or exploring another part of Florida, MetroLagoons is such a fun addition to your itinerary. With four locations across the state, you can choose the lagoon that works best for your trip.

Our day at Mirada Lagoon was filled with swimming, food, drinks, and plenty of time in the sun. If you want the atmosphere of a tropical getaway while staying close to Florida’s other attractions, this is definitely an experience to add to your list.
