If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that self-care doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. I don’t follow a 10-step routine or spend hours getting ready. I keep things simple, consistent, and realistic — and that’s what actually makes the biggest difference.
Here’s what a typical day of self-care looks like for me:
Morning Routine
I like to start my mornings slow and intentional. Even on busy days, I try to give myself a little bit of time before jumping into work.
I’ll usually start with movement — whether that’s a workout class, lifting, or just getting my body moving. It sets the tone for the entire day and instantly boosts my mood.
After that, I go into a quick skincare routine. Nothing crazy — just cleansing my face, adding hydration, and moisturizing. Keeping it simple helps me stay consistent, which is way more important than using a ton of products.
During the Day
Self-care doesn’t stop after the morning. Throughout the day, I focus on small habits that help me feel good:
• Drinking enough water
• Eating meals that actually fuel my body
• Taking breaks when I need them
• Getting outside or going for a walk
These little things might seem basic, but they add up and make a huge difference in how I feel.
Evening Routine
At night, I focus on winding down and resetting for the next day.
I’ll do my skincare routine again, sometimes adding in a treatment if my skin needs it. Then I like to slow things down — whether that’s taking a hot shower, relaxing on the couch, or just having a quiet moment to myself.
I try to avoid doing too much at night. For me, self-care in the evening is more about calming down than being productive.
The Reality of It
Not every day looks perfect, and I don’t follow this routine exactly every single day. But having a general rhythm helps me stay grounded and feel my best more often than not.
At the end of the day, self-care isn’t about doing everything — it’s about doing what works for you and sticking with it.
